Marv Di Pilato was born in Rochester, New York and grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado.

While in high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force at seventeen years old, and once graduated he left for basic training.

He was a USAF Security Forces member for almost 31 years both active duty and reserve. He conducted military law enforcement and ground combat operations including several tours overseas. During his time in the USAF, he was a formal military training instructor in both law enforcement and combat operations. Including less lethal, combatives, firearms and tactics, Emergency Services Team/EST (SWAT), small unit operations, Personal Security Detail (PSD), Close Quarters Battle (CQB), reconnaissance and surveillance, and anti/counter terrorism operations. He retired from the USAF as a senior non-commissioned officer at the rank of Master Sergeant.

Once leaving active duty and transitioning to the reserve, he spent a couple of years in uniformed federal law enforcement as a Veterans Affairs police officer in Grand Junction, Colorado. Upon moving to Rochester, New York, he joined the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office where he worked in both jail and patrol positions as a deputy sheriff where he retired after 21 years. After retiring from the sheriff’s office, he worked for the Town of Ogden Police Department for a few more years as a police officer. During his time at both the county sheriff’s office and town police department in New York, he was a New York state certified police instructor, defensive tactics instructor firearms instructor, background investigator, honor guard member, primary FTO, police academy lead instructor, gang intelligence unit member, and conducted fugitive warrants.

For several years he was a contract firearms and tactics instructor for various training companies. Once retiring from law enforcement after 25 years, he owned his own training and consulting company focusing on firearms, tactics, active shooter, and self-defense for military, law enforcement, and civilians.

Di Pilato resides in Grand Junction with his wife Lisa. He enjoys camping, hiking, riding trails with his UTV and anything that gets him into the mountains and desert.

Di Pilato is honored to be the CMU/CMU Tech Assistant Public Safety Department Director and Assistant Director of the Western Colorado Peace Officers Academy.
