Michelle Calkins’s education includes AA Early Childhood Education, a BA Psychology, and a MA Early Childhood Education with Special Education Endorsement. Her current areas of focus for childhood education include trauma remediation and practicing yoga in the classroom. She also teaches children about self-regulation, emotions and decision making. She believes confident, competent teachers are more effective in meeting children’s needs across all developmental domains which helps each and every child progress to the next level in their development. Calkins teaches in the early childhood field because it is a powerful way to make a positive difference in the lives of young humans.

Outside of working with children, Calkins enjoys hiking, paddleboarding, and painting.
