Michael Carlton received an associate degree in applied science as well as an education gained over more than 20 years in the machining industry. He is also a journeyman moldmaker. Carlton teaches Print Reading and Sketching, Geometric Tolerancing, Introduction to Machine Ship and Machine Technology.

As an instructor for the machining program, Carlton feels that students learn quickest through a hands-on learning approach. He believes that manufacturing is and always has been a cornerstone of American culture because he has been involved in machining for his entire career and has seen how great American manufacturing can be. This is also something Carlton hopes to instill in his students.
