CMU Welcomes PepsiCo as Official Beverage Provider

CMU announces new beverage provider partnership with PepsiCo

Grand Junction, Colo. — Colorado Mesa University (CMU) announced a multiyear partnership naming PepsiCo as the official brand partner beverage provider for all campus vending, dining halls, residence halls, athletic facilities, and special events.

The partnership is rooted in shared values, including CMU’s commitment to being a Human Scale University and PepsiCo’s commitment to local community investment, sustainability and student engagement.

“PepsiCo’s brand portfolio and shared commitment to making positive student and community impact make them an ideal partner to support CMU,” said Assistant Vice President of Marketing and Brand Strategy Katlin Birdsall. “When CMU looks at partnerships that enhance the student experience, we want to prioritize scholarships, investment in the campus community and access to brand alignment. PepsiCo is committed to doing that.”

“PepsiCo is proud to partner with Colorado Mesa University, supporting a campus that puts its students and community at the center of everything it does,” said Shay Hobby, Senior Vice President, West Region, PepsiCo Beverages U.S. “This new partnership reflects our shared priorities, including education, community and sustainability. We look forward to creating positive impacts and delivering smiles for the CMU Maverick community through student support, sustainability initiatives and our broad portfolio of beverages.”

The partnership includes:

  • Student support initiatives and commitment towards developing programs that enhance the student experience
  • Support for activities associated with the Rowdy Mascot Program Student Performers’ Fund
  • Athletics resources and prospective hydration and recovery tools, select sideline and courtside products, and engagement with the Gatorade Sports Science Institute
  • Sustainability collaborations on initiatives, such as energy-efficient vending machines and recycling kiosks consistent with PepsiCo’s long-term aspiration related to increasing the use of 100% recycled or non-single-use plastic beverage containers by 2030
  • Campus engagement programs and career pathway possibilities with PepsiCo
  • Brand portfolio availability and access to PepsiCo brand portfolio

The transition to PepsiCo products begins immediately, with full implementation across campus by spring 2026.

A partnership kickoff celebration will take place on Thursday, January 29, during the CMU Mavericks basketball game in Brownson Arena. The event will feature fan engagement activities and exciting giveaways.
