Colorado Mesa University will waive application fees for prospective students Oct. 19–25, 2026, giving students an opportunity to take the next step toward higher education without the up-front cost of applying.
The weeklong initiative extends beyond Colorado’s statewide Free Application Days, which run Oct. 20–22. During CMU’s Free Application Week, undergraduate students can have the university's $40 application fee waived, while graduate students can have the $50 fee waived.
In addition to submitting an application, students can also submit the now-open General Scholarship Application to be considered for over $6 million in scholarship dollars. $2 million in scholarship dollars are specifically available to Mesa County students.
Students interested in attending CMU are encouraged to submit both their university application during Free Application Week and begin filling out the General Scholarship Application. The priority deadline for scholarship consideration is Feb. 7. Incoming, admitted students who meet the deadline are eligible to be considered for available scholarship awards.
For students weighing the cost of college, these opportunities can help make higher education more accessible. Applying for free removes one initial expense, while scholarship funding can reduce financial barriers that may prevent them from earning a degree. In addition, students from families with annual incomes of $70,000 or less may be eligible for the CMU Promise, which ensures tuition is fully covered.
