CMU Tech One of 116 Grant Awardees to be Recognized for Workforce Development Efforts

On Nov. 3, 2026, CMU Tech was recognized by Governor Polis and the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) with one of 12 Opportunity Now Performance Awards for achievements in workforce development.

CMU Tech is one of 12 grantees supported by the Opportunity Now Colorado grant program, which awarded 116 grants totaling $92 million to prepare Coloradans for jobs that pay well and meet the workforce needs of Colorado’s top industries. CMU Tech focused the award dollars on training for healthcare careers, including nursing assistants, emergency medical services personnel and medical assistants. Collectively, the 96 grant recipients exceeded projections by placing 20,000 Coloradans into jobs to date.

“At CMU Tech, we are dedicated to offering programs that meet our community's needs. The more we can provide education and training resources to support the healthcare industry here on the western slope, the better,” said Vice President of CMU Tech Brigitte Sundermann.

“It was an honor to receive an award recognizing CMU Tech’s effort to prepare people for the workforce in high-demand fields like healthcare. To be one of twelve out of 116 grant awardees to be recognized, this is a great achievement and represents the hard work CMU Tech and CMU Tech Community Education Center instructors and staff put into meeting the needs of our community every day,” said CMU Tech Assistant VP of Workforce Development Mindy Gutierrez.
