An Honor to Serve

Bobbi Sindelar, '95

Running unopposed in April of last year and reelected as mayor of Firestone, Colorado, Bobbi Sindelar greatly appreciates the confidence of her constituents. She credits her success to her ability to try to understand every side of a situation and listening to everyone’s viewpoint.

“We’re all different and that’s ok,” said Sindelar.

This former tennis student-athlete is proud that Firestone will be expanding their emergency services team by hiring new firefighter/ EMT workers in 2021. The town has also made improvements to a new municipal center building, which houses the police department, a municipal courtroom, records department and forensic lab.

Another new office in Firestone is the Small Business Development Center and the newly hired economic development director. Sindelar is proud of the services the Small Business Development Center offers local businesses.

“I was getting my hair done at the local salon and the owner couldn't stop talking about how much valuable, free information this office was giving her.”

Local businesses have been especially hard hit during the pandemic because of the decreased tourism. Firestone’s Small Business Development Center has become essential for many shops to stay open and productive.

Even through the pandemic this past summer, Firestone’s small town charm still shone. Although some summer activities had to be canceled or postponed, the movies in the park were shown in a drive-in-theatre style. The drive-in screenings became so popular, the town may consider it as a permanent addition next year.

This single mom and her four children were all at home together the past few months. While things were a bit intense, Sindelar enjoyed the family time especially since her eldest son (pictured above) started at Colorado Mesa University this past January to pursue a business degree. She is happy her son is enjoying the on-campus collegiate experience just as she did.

“It’s really the best time of his life and I want to see him enjoy it,” she said.
