CMU Stages at Colorado Mesa University will present two films at the Asteria Theatre in April as a part of its Reaching for the Stars series with proceeds benefiting the Reaching for the Stars Cultural Enrichment Program and Endowed Fund. The fund allows the Department of Theatre Arts to continue producing high-quality productions while giving back to the community through ticket donations to youth.
Apollo 13: April 7 at 7 pm

Guardians of the Galaxy: April 14 at 7 pm
Cosmic outlaws face an interstellar villain who seeks to control the universe with a powerful orb. Together, Peter Quill, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Gamora and Drax the Destroyer may be the galaxy's only hope for thwarting Ronan's sinister plan.
Reaching for the Stars supports the CMU Department of Theatre Arts in its mission to provide a comprehensive education for students, preparing them for the wide range of complex theatrical work available professionally. At the same time, the program helps bring high-quality performances and meaningful cultural opportunities to the broader community.
Reaching for the Stars also provides theatre tickets to Grand Valley students, helping bridge the gap in access to high-quality performing arts experiences for low-income families in Mesa County. By removing financial and cultural barriers, the program works to ensure that every child and teen in western Colorado has the opportunity to experience live theatre at CMU at least once before graduating from high school.
Reaching for the Stars events at the Asteria Theatre feature world-renowned speakers such as Neil deGrasse Tyson, who help us better understand the wider universe we are part of while inspiring awe, curiosity, and a sense of connection within our community. The series also includes classic films, including those upcoming in April. Proceeds from all events directly support the Reaching for the Stars Endowed Fund.
