Grand Junction, Colo. — The Colorado Mesa University Cross Country Ski Team will host its annual Nordic Ski Swap on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, bringing together cross country skiers, local families, outdoor enthusiasts and ski businesses for a community event dedicated exclusively to classic, skate and Nordic touring equipment.
Last year’s swap was a huge success, with strong community turnout and most participating vendors selling out by noon. This year, the team hopes to make the event even larger, with more equipment, more sellers and participation from ski shops and outdoor businesses throughout western Colorado and the surrounding region.
The swap gives the public an opportunity to buy and sell new and used cross country skis, boots, poles, bindings, clothing and other equipment. Local and regional businesses are also being invited to bring previous-season, clearance and another inventory to sell or consign.
The CMU Cross Country Ski Team is hosting the event. In 2026, CMU athletes captured national championships at the US Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association National Championships in Lake Placid, including victories by Greta Bochenek and Wesley Sumner. This winter, Bochenek and Sumner will also represent the United States as members of Team USA at the 2027 Winter World University Games in Changchun, China.
A portion of Ski Swap sales benefits the CMU Cross Country Ski Team and helps support student-athletes with training, equipment and competition expenses. The team operates through a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, making qualifying contributions tax-deductible.
The Nordic Ski Swap also aims to make cross country skiing more accessible by giving newcomers and experienced skiers alike a chance to find affordable equipment and connect with the growing cross country ski community on the Western Slope.
