On Oct. 20, Colorado Mesa University (CMU) and Englewood Schools formalized a partnership to expand college access for students at Englewood High School and through guaranteed admission pathways, scholarship opportunities and ongoing student support.
Eligible juniors at Englewood High School with a weighted or unweighted GPA of 3.2 or higher will receive guaranteed admission and a scholarship in accordance with CMU’s admission and scholarship policies. Seniors with a weighted or unweighted GPA of 3.0–3.19 will receive guaranteed admission. Students with GPAs of 2.5 to below 3.0 will receive admission or admission with support. Students with a cumulative GPA below 2.5 will receive a holistic application review to determine admission eligibility and an alternative transfer pathway may be recommended with CMU staff support.
The partnership will also waive CMU application fees for students at both high schools and provide access to a designated admissions representative, campus visit opportunities and help navigating applications and financial aid. Once enrolled at CMU, students will have access to advising and support services, including a staff advisor during their first two semesters.
Representatives from Englewood Schools and CMU signed the agreement during a ceremony at the Roscoe Davidson Administration Building on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
"We are thrilled about this opportunity for our students and grateful to Colorado Mesa University for facilitating this partnership," said Dr. Diana Zakhem, Director of Secondary Success at Englewood Schools. "Guaranteed admission and scholarship pathways provide our students with clear, attainable goals as they plan for life after graduation."
“We’re pleased to partner with Englewood Schools to create a clear pathway to higher education for students,” said John Marshall, President of Colorado Mesa University. “Guaranteed admission to Colorado Mesa University gives students the opportunity to plan for the future with confidence and see college as an attainable next step. We want every student to know that a college education is within reach and that CMU is ready to help them turn their goals into reality.”
The partnership supports Englewood Schools’ commitment to preparing students for life after graduation by connecting them with college opportunities and support through enrollment and their transition to CMU.
“We truly appreciate CMU simplifying the college admissions process for our students,” said Joanna Polzin, Superintendent of Englewood Schools. “They are going above and beyond by removing obstacles and establishing a clear pathway to the exceptional educational opportunities that CMU offers. We are thankful to CMU for fostering this partnership with Englewood Schools in service of our students and families.”
