CMU had record attendance at the 2026 Mavs at the Rockies event
Colorado Mesa University's Maverick spirit was on full display at this year's Mavs at the Rockies event, where a record 258 alumni, students, prospective students, families and friends gathered at Coors Field for an evening celebrating community and university pride.
For the first time in the event's history, CMU sold out its reserved University Night ticket allotment, a marker of the continued growth of the university's alumni network and the strong connections Mavericks maintain long after graduation. For every ticket purchased through the Colorado Rockies, $2 was donated back to CMU to support the Alumni and Career Services initiatives that strengthen engagement across Colorado.
The evening's most memorable moment came before the first pitch when CMU Board of Trustees member Kasia Iwaniczko-MacLeod was recognized on the field for her unwavering dedication to CMU. The recognition highlighted her leadership as a mentor, trustee and ambassador for CMU, as well as her lasting impact on the university community throughout Colorado.
The on-field honor recognized Iwaniczko-Macleod as the inaugural recipient of the Mary Rait Leadership Award, which was awarded to her for her commitment to uplifting women, immigrants, first-generation students and community members seeking an opportunity for a better life through education. Her leadership continues to strengthen the university's presence in Denver and across the state, embodying the lifelong connections that define the Maverick community.
Iwaniczko-MacLeod's story is one of many featured as part of the university's CMU Century Project, which celebrated the people whose leadership shaped the institution's first 100 years and continues to influence its future.
Beyond the recognition ceremony, the event itself reflected the growing strength of CMU's alumni network. Since the merger of the Alumni Association with Career Services, alumni engagement has continued to expand, creating more opportunities for graduates to connect with one another while supporting current and future students.
