The February campaign supports CMU’s Century Scholarship and expands the impact of Round Up for Rowdy program
For Timberline Bank, supporting Colorado Mesa University is not a single sponsorship or moment. From serving as the long-time sponsor of Colorado Mesa University’s Homecoming to launching the new Round Up for Rowdy program, their impact is a continuous commitment to students, alumni and the Western Slope community.
Now, Timberline Bank is kicking off a new initiative for CMU aligned with the value of love. Throughout the month of February, Timberline Bank is extending its community support and sharing the love with Mavericks throughout the month of February.
On Feb. 1, CMU launched as Timberline Bank’s Nonprofit of the Month. Throughout the month, tips and donations collected at the Timberline Community Coffeebar will be gifted to CMU, directly benefiting the Century Scholarship – a fund that expands access to higher education for Mesa County students – and promoting the Round Up for Rowdy program.
Round Up for Rowdy, launched in late 2025, is a simple round-up program that automatically rounds up each debit card transaction to the nearest dollar and gives the rounded-up change to the CMU Foundation. While this is typically cents at a time, these small amounts gradually add up, resulting in an average of $75-$125 rounded-up per year contributed directly to the CMU Century Scholarship. When a community rallies behind the round-ups, small change can truly have a big impact.
“Timberline Bank's commitment to CMU goes far beyond a single campaign. Their support of the Century Scholarship with the Round Up for Rowdy program demonstrates how local partnerships create meaningful, lasting access to higher education for Mesa County students. When businesses invest in students, they invest directly in the future of our community,” said CMU Foundation Director of Annual Giving, Chenoa Jenkel.
Throughout the month of February, community supporters like Asteria Theater, Colorado Craft Coffee and Beer House and Trail Life Brewing will show their support by sporting Timberline Bank’s Round Up for Rowdy coasters in their establishments.
"These coasters have definitely drawn interest from both the community and student body. Not only that, but it shows our support for what CMU and Timberline Bank bring to the Grand Valley," shared James Ferguson, owner of supporting business, Colorado Craft Coffee and Beer House.
Timberline Bank will raise awareness for CMU’s Century Scholarship and the Round Up for Rowdy program all month long. On Feb. 20, CMU Foundation and Alumni and Career Services staff will host special Barista Day at the bank. On Feb. 21, Timberline Bank will host the CMU Hockey Alumni Zone. Then, the month’s festivities will conclude on Feb. 27, when Timberline Bank presents the total gift amount to CMU.
“Our partnership with CMU is built on more than sponsorships. It’s built on shared investment in the future of the Western Slope, through initiatives like Round Up for Rowdy and our Nonprofit of the Month program, we’re creating simple, accessible ways for our community to support local students," said Co-CEO Jim Pedersen.
As part of Timberline Bank’s ongoing support of the Round Up for Rowdy program, a prize drawing for a Yeti cooler (valued at $475) will also take place on Feb. 27. The community is encouraged to join the CMU Foundation’s “Barista Day” on Feb. 20 from 9-10 am, and to attend the check presentation and prize drawing on Feb. 27.
From scholarships and athletics to alumni connection and local partnerships, Timberline Bank’s February support highlights the impact of showing up consistently for students and spreading love to encourage growth. It is one chapter in a continued partnership focused on strengthening opportunities for Mavericks across the Western Slope.
