The two-month partnership at City Market’s 24 Road location raised $463 for CMU students experiencing food insecurity
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Colorado Mesa University’s food pantry, The Pantry, was selected as a beneficiary of City Market’s Fight Hunger Bag program, a community-focused initiative that supports local hunger relief efforts.
Through the two-month partnership in February and March 2026, The Pantry received $463 through the sale of reusable Fight Hunger Bags at City Market’s 24 Road location. All proceeds from the program will directly support food access for CMU students experiencing food insecurity.
“All proceeds raised for The Pantry are reinvested directly back into supporting our students. Increased community support like this allows us to serve more students and expand access to nutritious food,” said Isabel Manzanares, executive assistant to the senior vice president for Student Services.
The Pantry has experienced significant growth since opening its first location on the main campus in 2022. Today, the Pantry operates five locations across CMU’s campuses, including three on the main campus, one at CMU Tech and one at the Montrose campus.
At Colorado Mesa University, every student has access to the resources they need, starting with the basics like food. Through The Pantry at CMU, students are provided free access to snacks, grab-and-go meals, take-home pantry staples and even daily necessities. With three locations on CMU’s main campus, and a location at CMU Tech and the Montrose Campus, students have what they need on hand in an easy, accessible and free way.
Faculty, staff, students and community members interested in food or monetary donations can visit Supporting CMU or email [email protected] for more information on how to get involved.
