Educators Invited to Join CMU’s Ripples of Change

Colorado Mesa University’s Ruth Powell Hutchins Water Center will host the free “Ripples of Change” workshop on October 23, offering educators hands-on tools and insights into water equity and environmental justice.

Colorado Mesa University’s Ruth Powell Hutchins Water Center is excited to announce it will be hosting the Ripples of Change Workshop, an engaging professional development opportunity for teachers focused on water, equity and environmental justice. This free event will be held on October 23, 2025, from 9 am to 4 pm.

The workshop will provide educators with hands-on resources, classroom-ready curriculum ideas and connections to experts who can bring local water issues and solutions to the classroom.

“Our goal is to empower teachers with new tools to inspire students to think critically about the ripples of change happening in their communities,” said Special Projects and Event Coordinator for the CMU Ruth Powell Hutchins Water Center Jordan Strickler.

This year's event is excited to raise awareness for positive work environments, foster engagement around water fairness and ecojustice, explain key concepts related to water equity and define and learn about the Colorado Environmental Justice Act of 2021. This all-day event also allows attendees to receive an accredited certificate for continuing education.
