As part of Colorado Mesa University’s Century Celebration, Maverick Athletics is hosting a roaring 1920s party, The Bootleg Ball in Brownson, presented by Shaw Construction. This prohibition-inspired party pulls a page straight from CMU’s founding year, 1925, by bringing flapper-era flair and a high-energy swing performance from one of the most acclaimed acts in today’s retro-jazz scene.
The Bootleg Ball in Brownson draws talent from Los Angeles and New York, featuring the Jennifer Keith Quintet, which includes members of the legendary Royal Crown Revue, the group widely credited for igniting the swing revival of the 1990s. Several members, including Keith herself, performed with Royal Crown Revue during its rise to national fame. Signed to Warner Bros., the group released nine albums, toured internationally and appeared in iconic films such as The Mask and Swingers. Their dynamic style and signature sound helped bring swing back into the mainstream, inspiring generations of musicians and fans.
Bringing talent of this caliber to CMU is a unique opportunity for the region, giving guests a chance to experience a live swing performance that blends musical precision with 1920s charm.
