GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Colorado Mesa University (CMU) is thrilled to unveil the Asteria Theatre Broadway Series, bringing for the first time world-class theatrical performances to Western Colorado for the 2025-26 season. CMU President John Marshall announced the series to the campus community on July 7, 2025, marking a historic milestone in realizing the original vision for Asteria Theatre (Greek for ‘The Stars’) as a premier cultural asset for western Colorado.
The Asteria Broadway Series will feature six acclaimed productions: Mrs. Doubtfire, TINA – The Tina Turner Musical, Mark Twain Tonight!, THE BOOK OF MORMON, Chicago, and Hadestown. Performances will run from fall 2025 through spring 2026 at CMU’s state-of-the-art Asteria Theatre, fulfilling the venue’s original promise to deliver top-tier entertainment to all of western Colorado.
“When we proposed Asteria Theatre, we envisioned a venue and learning space that would bring Broadway-caliber performances to our region,” said CMU President John Marshall. “Following our Reaching for the Stars event with Neil deGrasse Tyson and the grand opening of the theatre with Amadeus, the Asteria Broadway Series brings the original vision full circle, offering western Colorado access to extraordinary cultural experiences right here on campus.”
Flex passes, allowing patrons to select at least four of the six shows, go on sale July 16, 2025. Single-show tickets will be available starting in August. Ticket information is available at CMUstages.com.
The series underscores CMU’s commitment to addressing the region’s historical lack of venues that are technically capable of hosting major touring productions.
“The production capacity of the theatre means that Asteria’s moniker, 'bringing the stars to the stage,’ is now a reality,” said CMU Manager of Performing Arts Marketing Laura Bradley. “We invite the community to join us in celebrating this transformative moment for Western Colorado.”
Interested media may contact the CMU Office of Marketing and Communications to arrange interviews with series promoters or to explore feature opportunities for individual shows as performance dates approach.
