Colorado Mesa University (CMU) is proud to announce the recent commitment of Riley Hayes to play for the Dilligen Diamonds – a professional women's basketball team based out of Dilligen, Germany.
Hayes, originally from Bentonville, Arkansas, is a recent graduate and was an integral part of the women’s basketball team as a shooting guard. Hayes announced her commitment on June 21, following a lifelong dream of playing overseas. Hayes joins two other female athletes from CMU who have signed with a professional team in the last four years.
Hayes said that she is looking forward to the new experiences that playing abroad will expose her to, and she encourages other players to go after their dreams.
“I thought going overseas would only be for D1 players, so believe in yourself, put yourself out there and what is meant to be will be,” said Hayes.
Hayes will make her way to Germany at the end of summer, with the season officially starting in September. While abroad, she will join a group of women and teammates aged 14 to 31, from both the United States and Germany.
