CMU music department presents 6th annual Jazztopia Jazz Workshop

Jazz Workshop features guest artist John Riley

The Colorado Mesa University Department of Music is pleased to announce the 6th annual Jazztopia Jazz Workshop, June 10-13, 2019. The workshop brings together high school students from the West Slope for four days of intensive jazz instruction and jazz combo performance.

A grant from the Grand Junction Commission on Arts and Culture has allowed Jazztopia to host renowned jazz drumset artist John Riley as a featured clinician and guest artist. Riley performs on drums with the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra and has performed and recorded with many jazz greats.

The student combos will perform an evening of music at the KAFM radio room on Wednesday, June 12 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and are available through KAFM Radio.

The final performance of the student combos is free and open to the public on Thursday, June 13 at 3:30pm in the Moss Performing Arts Center Love Recital Hall.

John Riley will perform with the Western Colorado Jazz Orchestra on Thursday, June 13 at 7:30pm in Moss Robinson Theatre. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students and are available at the Grand Junction Symphony Office.
