ALEKS Math Assessment is a web-based program that uses artificial intelligence to determine a student’s math course placement. The ALEKS Math Assessment is able to determine what you know and what you need to work on. You are given 2 hours to complete the adaptive assessment, but it usually takes approximately 60-90 minutes to complete. After completing the ALEKS Math Assessment, placement scores and an individualized Prep and Learning Module are generated that allow you to brush up on topics that may have been forgotten or haven’t been practiced for some time. You are then provided with up to 4 additional assessments to improve your placement.
NOTE: If you score 45 or below you must complete at least 3 hours of the individualized Prep and Learning Modules and then take the assessment a second time. You can take the assessment up to four times. The fifth attempt must be proctored in the Testing Center. Email: [email protected] to schedule.
Because the ALEKS Math Assessment is not proctored, Colorado Mesa University expects students to do their own work without the assistance of others or unauthorized aids. Use of a personal calculator is prohibited. ALEKS will provide an on-screen calculator if one is needed to complete a particular problem. You may use paper, pencils, or pens for scratch work.

If you do not know your MAVzone login please contact the IT helpdesk at 970-248-2111.
You will purchase an access code for the ALEKS Math Assessment with a credit card when you create your account. The fee is $25 and allows access to up to five ALEKS Math Assessments and learning assistance for 12 months.
