Online course materials

If you are not on campus, you can still access our databases and other electronic resources. We have created How-to Videos to help guide you through using eBooks, find streaming media content and how to use our database! These videos, and other resources, can be found on our Library Tools to get you Through Guide

  • Course Reserves - CMU Library staff are happy to assist you transitioning your course to online-only for the time being. We can work with you to make sure that required book, book chapter, and other readings are available for students to access electronically from wherever they are. Needs? Questions? Just email our Reserves staff at [email protected]
  • CMU Library OneSearch - Use the filters on the left hand side of the screen to focus on ebooks, streaming audio or video, and other online resources.
  • Research Guides - Subject and by Course
  • Articles & Research: A-Z Databases - We have hundreds of databases that provide access to digital articles, video, and more!

Returning Materials

Books and media, including Prospector and other Interlibrary Loan materials, may be returned to the CMU Library or the book return adjacent to the Library's 24-hour space. For students who checked out items this semester, due dates have been updated to the end of the semester, May 14, 2020.
  • If an item is due and the borrower does not want to come to campus to return it (due to illness or other extenuating circumstances), they should keep it until they are able to safely return it. If they are charged late fees, they can appeal the fine after it is returned. We understand that this is a special situation, and special considerations will be made.
  • Please do not return equipment (laptops, calculators, headphones, etc.) via the book returns. If the library is closed due to unforeseen circumstances when your equipment items are due, please return them to a service desk the next time we are open and we will amend any fines.
  • Questions or concerns about accessing or returning materials? Please email ([email protected]) or contact us by virtual chat through the Library homepage.

Print and Media Materials

Due to the stay-at-home order for the state of Colorado, we have made changes to how you can access print and media materials from the CMU collection until the order is lifted. Current order is in effect through April 26, 2020.
  • Curbside Pick-up
    • Live locally? Still on campus? Curbside pick-up is available! Starting April 13, Tomlinson Library will offer curbside pick-up of print and media items from our collection. Pick-up times are in 15-minute timeslots, Monday-Friday, 10AM - Noon MST.
    • Follow these steps:

      1. Search for the item you need in our online catalog through the Books & Media search:
      2. Use the "Place Hold" icon to use your name and 408# to place a hold on that item. (The 408# is on the bottom right of your MavCard.)
      3. Select a pick-up time from the options available on this page and complete the form that follows. (The form asks for your name, email (CMU-associated), phone number, and color/make/model of your car. We will use this information to confirm the items you're picking up and to communicate with you at the scheduled pick-up time.)
      4. We will bring your item out to your vehicle at the scheduled time. Please park in CP6 (See map here) as close to the building as possible. If we are having trouble finding you, we will call the number you enter on this form.
  • Request materials as scanned PDFs:
    • No matter where you live: You can email or chat with us about your needs. If the print item is in our collection, we can offer you scanning options. If we don't have the book, we can talk you through requesting scanned chapters from other libraries.
  • Questions? Concerns? Please email us at [email protected]
