Have you earned college credits but have no degree? Or were you admitted to a college but didn't end up enrolling? We may be able to help you Finish What You Started!


For COSI's Finish What You Started grant, students must fall into one of the categories below:

Some College, No Degree: Students that currently have some college credits but have not graduated with a degree (certificate, Associate's, or Bachelor's) AND they have not been enrolled for at least two previous consecutive semesters. 

First-Time Students: Students that have not attended college but were admitted in the 2019-2020 or 2020-2021 academic year but did not enroll at any institution. 

All students that meet the eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply to COSI's Finish What You Started grant.


  • Must be considered eligible, as stated above, as a first-time student or a student with some college
  • Colorado resident
  • Complete a current year FAFSA
  • Plan to enroll or are enrolling at Colorado Mesa University or Western Colorado Community College starting in the Spring of 2023 or thereafter
  • Have experienced an economic loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic such as lost or adverse changes in employment, increased food or housing insecurity, were formerly incarcerated, had to withdraw from college after March 13, 2020, or suffered another form of economic loss
  • Must be able to complete credential or degree by Spring 2024

To remain eligible and for continuous COSI funding, students must also:

  • Maintain satisfactory progress towards their credential/degree and hold a cumulative 2.0 GPA
  • Successful completion of the participation agreement includes, but is not limited to, receiving support from a designated advisor and attending customized events to help in their educational success.
