The student-led Cultural Inclusion Council (CIC) strives to promote equity and inclusion on campus and in the surrounding community by hosting educational and promotional events, connecting students to support services and promoting open dialogue that allows individuals to better understand one another.
The CIC alliances are open to anyone interested in perpetuating the promotion and support of CMU's inclusion efforts. The CIC alliance offices are located on the second floor of the University Center in the Student Life Office. Six different cultural alliances fall under the Cultural Inclusion Council:
The mission of the Black Student Alliance (BSA) is to educate the campus community on African American culture. The BSA sponsors various events throughout the year to provide cultural educational activities that are fun and experiential. The BSA meets regularly during the fall and spring semesters. BSA also sponsors a culturally significant month and participates in CMU's annual week-long Unity Fest and MavClusion. For more information, contact the Cultural Diversity Board or the BSA advisor.
The Genders and Sexualities Alliance at CMU strives to advocate fairness and equality for all students, regardless of sexual orientation or gender expression. GSA produces various events throughout the year and meets regularly during the fall and spring semesters. GSA also sponsors a culturally significant month and participates in CMU's annual week-long Unity Fest and MavClusion. For more information on this or any other LGBTQ* issues, contact the Cultural Inclusion Board or the GSA Advisors.
