March 8, 2021

On March 16, 2021, the Presidential Search Committee will hold a community session to gather input from key off-campus stakeholders. Until now, the Committee has discussed the general qualities and expectations that the next CMU President should embody. As the Committee narrows the candidate pool to those with whom an initial interview will be scheduled, as well as those who are subsequently invited to campus as finalists, Committee members will need to consider specific attributes that the successful applicant should have in order to be the best fit for the Colorado Mesa University presidency. Further, the Committee will consider using the stakeholders’ input to inform conversations with candidate references.

For this phase of the process, the Committee is requesting your assistance. The community session will be conducted virtually – on Zoom – and allow members of the broader campus community to share input on discussion topics with the candidates. The Committee is seeking input on two items and asks session participants to frame their comments as a response to one of the following questions:

  1. What question should the Search Committee ask each presidential candidate?
  2. What is the most important quality you believe a candidate should bring to the role of president of CMU?

The community session will be held at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 16th. Register here.

All participants must pre-register. To offer comment to the Search Committee, please designate on the registration form if you plan to speak. If you prefer to only listen, please select that option. Participants are asked to keep their comments to no more than one minute in order to ensure the Search Committee has enough time to hear from all who want to contribute. Please adhere to the guidelines above for your comments. The search for next CMU's president has attracted candidates from across the nation, and we have committed to maintaining the confidentiality of our applicants. Please refrain from using your allotted time to endorse any candidate whom you may know has applied for the position.

For the Committee to make full use of your input, please be advised that the session will be recorded.

As an alternative way of giving input, the presidential search website has a designated comment box where stakeholders can share input with the Search Committee. On the site, scroll down to record your input in the “Contact the Committee” box. The box will remain active as a method to accept feedback from stakeholders until a president is named.

We remain grateful to the entire CMU community for your support and engagement as we continue to identify the strongest candidates for consideration by the Search Committee and Board of Trustees.

Sincerely,

The CMU Presidential Search Committee
