Please read this April 27 letter from President Tim Foster. He addresses what the university is currently doing to prepare for the fall 2020 semester and assures you that there are many reasons to feel optimistic about securing your room, investing in tuition and looking forward to your education this fall.

We are excited to share that the CMU Board of Trustees voted unanimously not to raise tuition, fees and housing rates for the 2020-2021 academic year.

We also encourage you to visit the Safe Together, Strong Together site for information about CMU's on-campus living and learning plans.

The Admissions Welcome Center open to the public and our team is available Monday-Friday 8am-5pm MST to serve you. You are also welcome to connect with your admissions counselor or the operational staff via email, phone call or text.

Campus tours are available by appointment only Monday-Saturday. No information sessions or large programming events will be held for the time being. Please contact if you are interested in scheduling a tour for your family.

Parents/supporters of admitted students also receive regular email communications from the Admissions Office. If you are a parent/supporter and you are not receiving these communications, please email with the following information:

  • Your first and last name
  • The student's first and last name
  • The student's date of birth
  • Your relation to the student

Fall 2020 students and supporters

CMU plans to offer on-campus classes and on-campus student housing for the fall semester starting August 17, 2020. The Early Start Programs will take place the week prior beginning August 9, 2020.

The first day of classes in Monday, August 17. The Early Start Programs launch the week before the start of the semester on August 9.
Admitted first-time students will sign up for a Digital Orientation. Admitted transfer students may self-register on MAVzone or request a Transfer Advising Appointment.

The $50 enrollment deposit is refundable if a confirmed student chooses not to attend CMU.
The $200 housing deposit is refundable if a student cancels their housing contract due to COVID-19 factors.

In the event that fall 2020 classes are moved to an online format mid-semester, CMU would offer refunds for housing and dining expenses provided that the student moves out of their residence hall.

Fall 2021 students and supporters

The fall 2021 application for admission will launch on Monday, August 3 at Please use the promo code EARLY21 to waive your application fee.

Students who have expressed interest in CMU will receive insight from the CMU Admissions Office and their admissions counselor throughout the summer and next year.
