CMU Opera presents powerful evening of Holocaust-inspired works

On Friday, September 14 at 7:30pm, the CMU Department of Music will present Farewell Auschwitz: Holocaust-inspired songs by Jake Heggie in the Moss Performing Arts Center Love Recital Hall.

Melissa Malde from the University of Northern Colorado will join Stefanie Anduri, DMA, Graham Anduri, DMA, CMU's new Director of Vocal Ensembles, Adam Kluck, DMA and the CMU Opera Workshop students in a double bill performance of Jake Heggie's one-act opera, Another Sunrise about the recollections of Krystyna Zywulska, a survivor of Auschwitz, and Farewell Auschwitz, a dramatic song cycle for three singers based on the poetry of Zywulska. Originally commissioned by Music of Remembrance, these two works bring to life the myriad complex and tangled emotions of those who survived the atrocities of the Holocaust.

Tickets are available online at coloradomesa.edu/tickets  or at the door the night of the performance.
