Fulbright Scholar from Egypt visits CMU

Fulbright Visiting Scholar Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Fahmy Yousef from Egypt will talk about living and studying in the United States at a “Cultural Café” presentation in Colorado Mesa University’s Tomlinson Library.

Dr. Cynthia Pemberton, CMU vice president of academic affairs, will join Yousef and share her experiences as a Fulbright Specialist who visited the Jordan University of Science and Technology.

The presentation, which is free and open to the public, will start at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 14, in the library.

Yousef is a faculty member and researcher in the Learning Technologies Research Group at Fayoum University in Al Fayoum, Egypt and a researcher at Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen University in Aachen, Germany. He is currently a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Colorado Boulder. His research focuses on developing new learning technologies to enhance student-learning outcomes. He received his Doctorate in Computer Science (Learning Technologies) in 2015.

Pemberton, who has a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Portland State University, spent last October as a U.S. Fulbright Specialist at the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) located in the Kingdom of Jordan.

Yousef’s visit to CMU is funded by the Fulbright Scholars Outreach Lecturing Fund, which enables Visiting Scholars to share their research interests, speak about their home country, and exchange ideas with U.S. students, faculty and community organizations.

In addition to the public presentation, Yousef will also be a guest lecturer in a CMU class and will meet with CMU faculty members.
