Staff Profile: Bronson Henriques telling people's stories through film

Bronson Henriques is a Maverick and has been for years while attending Colorado Mesa. Recently this Maverick alumnus changed roles — from proud alum to staff — as he assumed the role of Videographer and Media Asset Manager in CMU's Marketing Office.

“I am beyond excited to be working for CMU,” exclaims Henriques. “I hope to use my talents and abilities to make a lasting impact on the university.”

Graduating with a BA in Mass Communication in December 2015, Henriques went on to work as a freelance videographer creating promotional videos, passion projects and underwriting spots for RMPBS-KRMJ.  He also applied his skills to creating videos for a local marketing company, Cranium 360.

Henriques passion for videography was recently awarded when he won second place in the statewide LiveWell Colorado Film Challenge. He wrote, directed and produced Bridging the Gap a short film on the importance of ensuring access to healthy eating and active living.  Henriques beat out 35 other submissions and ended up winning $2,000 for himself and $1,000 for Colorado Mesa.

“This was a tough challenge for the young filmmakers; to produce a compelling short film that could entertain, inform and encourage action on a complex subject- barriers to healthy eating and physical activity.  It was an inspiration to see the quality of the films and the reactions of the judges and audience,” said Shepard Nevel, LiveWell Colorado President and CEO.
