The Colorado Mesa University Department of Theatre Arts kicks off its’ 2016-2017 season with a new initiative to get audience members more involved by partnering with the Tomlinson library.  This season will include four new performances; many of which are based on well-known literature.

The Main Stage season consists of Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach, Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, My Fair Lady, which is based on George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion, and 1960s era French farce, Boeing-Boeing.

Audience members are encouraged to enrich their theatre-going experience by reading some of the wonderful books these familiar shows are based upon. CMU’s Tomlinson Library will have educational materials and items of interest related to each show assembled in a display for the month preceding each production as well as having books available for check out. The public is also invited to join a book group, which will read and discuss each of the books and hear from guest speakers on related themes and play production.

The first discussion and presentation will focus on Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach and will include light refreshments.  This open group will take place on Wednesday, October 5, at 7pm in the Tomlinson Library event space on the first floor. To check out the book, visit the library’s website at or text 970.644.6542 to Ask a Librarian.
