From the president

We're halfway through the spring semester and as always, there's a lot going on at Colorado Mesa University.

It's budget season and that means conversations are occurring across the institution about the delicate balance inherent in providing a quality education at an affordable cost. CMU and the other colleges and universities across Colorado are facing a significant reduction in financial support from the state. We remain committed to keeping higher education attainable and our growth and agility as an institution remain vital in achieving that goal.

There has also been a lot of conversation recently about inclusiveness. It's not enough to be diverse. Colorado Mesa University strives to be a welcoming, supportive community for everyone. Mavericks do not turn a blind eye when we see that someone is hurting. We speak up when we see bigotry in any form. This university values a culture of respect and inclusiveness, and we must continue to show leadership in that area.

As the weather warms up, I think everyone is feeling a little spring fever. Take time to enjoy western Colorado's beautiful outdoors, but don't let the second half of the semester get away from you. Go Mavs!
