CMU will host 2014 Special Olympics Colorado Summer Games

Feb5Special Olympics Colorado (SOCO) has announced it will return for the second year in a row to CMU for the 2014 SOCO Summer Games on May 31-June 1. The return of the Summer Games, a state championship event for five sports, to the community is significant and supports the organization’s vision of providing quality competition, facilities and social experiences for its athletes. More than 1,200 athletes, 500 volunteers, families, supporters and sponsors were on campus for the weekend’s events last year.

“It was gratifying to see how everyone embraced the Special Olympics Summer Games last year when the event was held at CMU for the first time …” said President Tim Foster. “I know we were hoping for a return engagement this year, and I think a lot of folks in the community shared our hope. We are very pleased to have the competition coming back to our campus and to our community.”
The competitions and opening ceremonies are free and open to the public.
