CMU comes to life through the arts

Music at Mesa will present its third in the 2012-13 Guest Artist Series with oboist Martin Schuring. Schuring will perform with CMU piano faculty Dr. Arthur Houle on March 15 at 7:30 pm. On March 21 at 7:30, CMU faculty Carlos Elias, Andrea-Arese Elias and Kristen Yeon-Ji Yun of the Las Americas Piano Trio will present a recital. Both concerts will be in the Moss Performing Arts Center recital hall.

Robinson Theatre will be alive during the month of March as well. Don’t miss Gilbert and Sullivan’s classic, The Pirates of Penzance, presented by the department of theatre arts in collaboration with the department of music, running February 28-March 9. Save the date for Tennessee Williams’ American tragedy, The Glass Menagerie, directed by new CMU faculty member Mo LaMee on April 17-20. In conjunction with their mainstage productions, the theatre department is offering a lecture series before the first Saturday night of each play. For information, contact the box office or visit

If visual art is your passion, mark your calendars for March 11–April 12 when Colorado Mesa’s BFA students will present the first of their studio art shows in the University Center Gallery. There will be a reception March 15 from 6–8 pm. The second BFA show will be April 15–May 10.

The 37th Annual Juried CMU All-Campus Exhibit will be presented at the Art Center on March 23–April 12 with a gallery talk and reception on April 5 from 6:30-9 pm. Any CMU student is eligible to submit entries to this juried exhibit.
