As part of its total compensation package, the State of Colorado currently offers employees a comprehensive leave program that includes annual, sick, holiday, family medical, short-term disability and military leave, to name a few. Employees earn personal and sick leave at varying accrual rates that are based on years of service. Full-time employees begin earning annual leave at an accrual rate of 8 hours per month and sick leave at 6.66 hours per month. Leave for a part-time employee is earned on a pro-rated basis. Permanent full-time and part-time employees earn (accrue) leave each month but it is not available for use until the 1st of the following month. Temporary employees do not accrue leave.

Regular attendance and punctuality are an essential part of each state job. Use your leave responsibly. Follow Colorado Mesa University's and your department's policy on requesting leave and reporting absences.
