Sue Mathews is an instructor in the BSN and RN-BSN programs. She holds an RN degree from Excelsior College, a Master's in Science in Nursing with a cognate in Education. Mathews has a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology with a minor in chemistry from Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio, where she began her professional career as a medical technologist.

She later returned to college and acquired her Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colo. After teaching middle school, Mathews returned to the medical field by attending Pueblo Community College and receiving her paramedic certification. For 12 years, she was a director of a full time ambulance service. Besides working at CMU, Mathews teaches ALCS and BLS. Camping, canoeing and going on adventures with her eight grandchildren are special moments she treasures.
