CMU believes that the best practice for mitigating communicable diseases, like COVID-19, is education and empowering individuals to make informed personal choices.

Our approach is not one of forced compliance, but of engagement, education and empowerment to utilize critical thinking to make informed choices. It is our goal as an institution of higher education to join you in this conversation about the science, and share with you data and facts to help you make informed decisions. We then trust you to be personally responsible for your health and the health of the Mavily. We hope to empower you to make the best choice for yourself while also knowing you are responsible and accountable to the rest of the campus community.

We are committed to engaging every member of campus, to make sure you're aware of the resources available to you, and if or when you're ready to receive the COVID-19 vaccine we'll provide easy access.

We are recommending the COVID-19 vaccine for those in our campus community. We're also honoring everyone's individual choices and understand that — for a variety of reasons — some of us are not yet ready to receive a vaccination. For those, we will ask that you participate in regular COVID-19 testing throughout the semester.

As we all prepare to return to campus there are a few vaccination/testing protocols you need to be aware of:

  • If you have received a COVID-19 vaccination, it's important you let CMU know. We respect your personal privacy and are asking that you voluntarily provide your vaccination records. It will only take a few minutes, please upload your vaccination record.
  • If you have not received a COVID-19 vaccination, you have a couple of options:
    • If you attended CMU last year and tested positive for COVID-19 and our contact tracing team was aware, you do not need to take any further action.
    • If you did not attend CMU last year or we were not aware of your positive COVID-19 status, please upload your positive PCR test results or positive antibody test. It will only take a few minutes, please upload your positive PCR test or positive antibody test.
    • If you have not received your vaccination and you have never tested positive for COVID-19, you must take a COVID-19 test and upload your results 72 hours prior to moving into your residence hall for those living on campus. Please upload your current test results. For those not living on campus, you will need to participate in ongoing testing throughout the semester.
