CMU will hold a virtual commencement on May 16, 2020, and an alternate, in-person ceremony with a goal date of August 1, 2020. Seniors will be polled on which ceremony they will attend. Please view President Foster’s email sent on 3.25.20 for details, and watch your MAVzone email for the survey.

The virtual ceremony will include a video of the commencement program featuring President Foster, Board of Trustee members, faculty, alumni, guest speakers, videos submitted by graduates and more. Students who choose this option will join CMU in trying something new and exciting in the face of a global challenge.

Tune in at 9:30am on May 16 to CMU's Facebook to watch the commencement ceremony program video.

Families should discuss with their student if they plan on attending the virtual or in-person ceremony and adjust travel plans as necessary.

Seniors should order a cap and gown if they plan on attending the in-person ceremony in August 2020.

For students who previously ordered, Herff Jones has created a website so students may convert their existing orders to home shipping, as CMU has canceled its distribution event to comply with public health order.

For students who still need to order, Herff Jones has reopened the regalia ordering website with the home ship option enabled through May 31.

Herff Jones has created a website for canceling/refunding orders for caps/gowns. Please note: the refund link is for caps and gowns only. Students will still need to contact Herff Jones customer services by calling 1-800-837-4235 to cancel orders for frames, announcements, rings, etc.
Every effort will be made to ensure on-time graduation for students who continue in their courses. In rare instances where a student is simply unable to complete a course, CMU will offer reasonable opportunities to either substitute prior coursework or waive a particular requirement.
