What a difference a week makes in a world with COVID-19. As always, the headlines and the virus continue to be unpredictable and adaptable. Luckily, we are too.

This week included the first of several CMU staff meetings that will be conducted via a hybrid format to accommodate in-person and remote participation. We learned several things from the first meeting and will continue getting better.

We also had another parents/students meeting on July 8. This telephone town hall format updated the extended campus community on CMU's Safe Together, Strong Together planning efforts. If you were not able to join the call, a recording is posted on the site blog.

Updates on that call included information about testing. In fact, the next round of student testing began today as we work to set up our baseline data that will inform our ongoing testing protocol. Around 1,000 tests were delivered to campus, and CMU will make announcements in the coming weeks about a creative testing partnership that will help us remain on the leading edge in Colorado when it comes to taking action for in-person learning.

There is no blueprint for closing and reopening a university, and there are no simple or easy answers. There is one simple idea though: CMU is committed to adjusting, adapting and doing whatever is necessary to sustain higher education and support our students through the current challenges facing our nation and world.

Thank all of you for your time, energy and efforts to that end.
