CMU's plan for in-person learning and on-campus living maximizes health and safety by using a methodical, health-driven and collaborative approach. It was built by experts across campus in consultation with local hospitals and public health agencies. It was founded in our belief in the educational value of campus life with in-person instruction.

Message from the COVID-19 Response Team

In May 2020, Colorado Mesa University launched the campus planning initiative called Safe Together, Strong Together. The campus-wide effort served as a roadmap for how to safely return to campus during a global pandemic. Through science, hard work and collaboration with epidemiologists and regional health and medical advisors, we have been able to continue in-person learning with little disruption since the Fall 2020 semester. The Safe Together, Strong Together plan worked.

COVID-19 taught us that when we work together for a common goal, the impossible becomes probable. For nearly two years, the COVID-19 task force has followed the data and emerging science. With that continued philosophy, we look ahead with optimism. The Safe Together, Strong Together motif has served us well. Now, we continue ahead into a new era of campus planning: Learn Together, Lead Together.

Throughout the last nearly two years, we have established we are stronger together. While our COVID-19 response continues to adapt to the changing landscape of new information and new viral variants, we’re simultaneously moving forward with a renewed commitment to Learn Together and Lead Together. In partnership with regional and national health experts, we remain committed to continuing to follow the data and the emerging research to inform our approach to disease mitigation. We will continue to be transparent with our campus and provide any updated information that impacts our COVID-19 campus response plan.

Looking ahead, we are integrating a holistic approach into our COVID-19 response and emphasizing the importance of health and well-being. Overall health will play a vital role in our response moving forward and we are eager to involve CMU faculty, staff and students in these efforts.

After today, the [email protected] email will transition back to what it was originally built for — crisis communication and emergencies. Beginning January 20, 2022, the COVID-19 response team can be reached at [email protected].

Thank you for your ongoing care and attention as we work together as a campus community to plan and address the health needs of our community. Please join us as we continue to Learn Together, Lead Together.

Regards,

The COVID-19 Response Team
