What do I do if I've been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19?
If you have been identified as a recent close contact to someone who tested positive for COVID-19, your next steps will depend on whether or not you have protective immunity.
Stay at home or in another location until your quarantine is complete. If possible, stay away from others in your home, especially those that are high risk.
- Schedule a test for 3-5 days after your last contact with a person who tested positive for COVID-19. If your results come back negative and you do not have any symptoms you may finish your quarantine after 7 full days after last exposure
- If you choose NOT to test and do not have symptoms you may finish your quarantine after 10 full days after last exposure.
Monitor your health: Watch for fever (100.4 degrees or higher), shortness of breath or other symptoms of COVID.
If you have a medical emergency, tell the 911 dispatcher that you are under quarantine for COVID-19.
Currently, close contact is defined as being within six feet of a person for at least 15 minutes.
Quarantine is a period after potentially being exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in which a person stays home to determine if they develop symptoms of the virus.
You are to remain in your assigned room or your temporary placement from Residence Life for as much of the time as possible.
You may leave your space to complete "essential living needs", i.e. laundry, groceries, to-go orders from any venue on campus with the exception of the Caf.
If you leave your space to do any of the above, or to get fresh air, we highly recommend that you wear a mask; you must clean the areas you touch (washers/dryers, door handles) with sanitary wipes; you must keep 6 feet distance between you and any person. If you need a mask or sanitary wipes, please call Residence Life at 970.2481536 to request supplies.
You may get hot meals to go at the Library, the Grill, or Rowdy's as a meal transfer. Please take your meals to an isolated area of campus or to your room. You may use your MAVmoney at Chick-fil-A, Einsteins, Umi Bowls, or Starbucks on campus or at Bravos, Sugar & Ice CO, Dominos, or Jimmy Johns.
