Alumni Mentor Program for Mentors

Alumni Mentor Program

About the CMU Alumni Mentor Program

Are you willing to gain a fresh perspective as a mentor? Mentoring is a great way to make an impact on the CMU community, even if you're not near campus.

The Alumni Mentor Program enables alumni to share their professional and personal experience and expertise with current CMU students and recent CMU graduates. Using the Handshake platform, a mentee will search for and request a mentor. The alumni mentor can then choose to work with the mentee they feel they can best support. You will work together to set parameters around what the mentorship will look like, and how often you will communicate. This will help you build a relationship that works best for both people.

Tips for success!

Become A Mentor

Handshake is our platform for connecting students and alumni for mentorship.

  • Create your profile HERE.
  • Click "Sign up for an Account" and select "Mentor" under account type.
  • Enter as much information about yourself as you can. Students will be able to search these different areas when looking for a mentor.
  • Once your profile is set up you will need to connect with Colorado Mesa University. Please email alumni@coloradomesa.edu using the email that you used to sign up. Let us know that you would like to participate in AMP!
  • That's it! Students will be able to search for and request you as a mentor.

Having trouble? Contact the CMU Alumni Association at 970.248.1525 or click here for a step-by-step guide from Handshake on how to join as a mentor.
