Robots Driving BADLY
What is Artificial Intelligence Research?
The 2005 DARPA Grand Challenge was a showcase for
one of the most difficult real world problems to solve. The 2007
DARPA Urban Challenge pushed far beyond that. Dr. Warren MacEvoy and Mr. Karl
Castleton will discuss some of the important aspects of the implementation of the
Mojavaton's White Knight autonomous vehicle. Video of the NQE, slides of data of
actual runs, and personal commentary will describe how algorithms and approaches
used by Team Mojavaton were both clever and simple. This will be a tour of
computer science, mathematics, and statistics with a heavy dose of both
victory and defeat. Come listen as Dr. Warren MacEvoy and Mr. Karl Castleton walk through
a 1 1/2 year struggle against amazing odds only to fail.
Everyone is welcome
