2012-2013 Scholarships

Important:

  • The following scholarships are intended for students who do not have a previous bachelor's degree, unless otherwise noted.
  • Unless noted otherwise the deadline for turning in scholarship applications is: March 1
  • All scholarship $amounts are subject to change and determined by funds available.

 

Colorado Mesa University Academic (Colorado) Scholarship-WCCC

Value: Up to $1,000

Criteria:

  • Must attend Western Colorado Community College full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Enrolled in a degree seeking program within the School of Applied Technology (WCCC programs).

American Business Women Association (ABWA) WCCC Scholarship

Value: $500 for up to two years

Criteria:

  • Must attend Western Colorado Community College full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Must be a female student and a Mesa County, CO resident.
  • Must be pursuing an Associate degree at WCCC.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • The recipient shall prepare and present a five-minute speech at the April meeting of the ABWA.

American Association of University Women - WCCC Scholarship

Criteria:

  • Must attend Western Colorado Community College full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Must be a non-traditional (25+ years of age) female student.
  • Must be pursuing an Associate Degree.
  • Minimum institutional GPA of 3.0.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.

 

Wesley Bretey Memorial Scholarship - WCCC

Value: $1000
Criteria:

  • Must attend Western Colorado Community College full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Must be a graduate of a Mesa County (CO) District 51 high school.
  • Must be majoring in a medic-related field.
  • Applicant must submit an essay describing their aspirations to advance in emergency medicine as part of their application process.

 

Brownson Memorial Leadership Scholarship-WCCC

Value: $Amount determined by funds available.
Criteria:

  • Must attend Western Colorado Community College full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Must be majoring in a Vocational program at WCCC.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5

Red Crawford "Kiwanis" Scholarship

Value: $Amount determined by funds available.
Criteria:

  • Must attend Western Colorado Community College full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Class rank of Sophomore and a legal Colorado resident.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0.
  • Priority given to Electronics Technology students.

Decadence Gourmet Cheesecake Scholarship

Value: $Amount determined by funds available.
Criteria:

  • Must attend Western Colorado Community College full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Must be majoring in Culinary Arts.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Recipient is required to complete internship at Decadence L.L.C. during scholarship period.

 

M. L. (Bud) Francis Scholarship

Value: $1000
Criteria:

  • Must attend Western Colorado Community College full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Must be majoring in construction technology.
  • Must be a U. S. resident.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5.

 

David M. Gardner WCCC Scholarship

Value: $500
Criteria:

  • Must attend Western Colorado Community College full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Enrolled in and pursuing an Associate degree.
  • Must be a graduate of a Mesa County (CO) District 51 high school.

 

Goffredi Memorial Scholarship

Value: $Amount determined by funds available.
Criteria:

  • Must attend Western Colorado Community College full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Class rank of Sophomore or higher.
  • Minimum institutional GPA of 3.5.
  • Pursuing an Associate degree in any field of study at WCCC.
  • The recipient must be gainfully employed a minimum of 10 hours per week while enrolled in school.

Grand Junction Lions Club Scholarship - WCCC

Criteria:

  • Must attend Western Colorado Community College full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Must be a non-traditional (25+ years of age).
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Must be a five-year resident of Mesa County, CO.
  • Must demonstrate significant financial need.

Deadline: May 11th

 

Grand Vally Power Lineman Scholarship

Value:  $2000

Criteria:

  • Must reside in a home served by Grand Valley Power.
  • Must be enrolled in the Electric Lineworker program or have al letter of acceptance from Colorado Mesa University in the Electric Lineworker program.
  • Must provide two Letters of Recommendation from non-relatives.
  • Must provide a 500-word essay describing the career path chosen and why.

Deadline:  March 15

 

Greer, Lapham, and Roth Scholarship - WCCC

Value: $Amount determined by funds available.
Criteria:

  • Must attend Western Colorado Community College full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Pursuing a degree in any field of study at WCCC.
  • Must be a resident of the Western Slope of Colorado.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.

 

Ken Atchley Lineman Scholarship

Criteria:

  • Must attend Western Colorado Community College full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Must be enrolled in the Lineworker Program.
  • Must be a Colorado resident.

 

Meadow Gold Dairy Culinary Arts Scholarship

Value: $2,500
Criteria:

  • Must attend Western Colorado Community College full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Must have graduated from high school with a minimum GPA of 2.0.
  • Must be a Colorado resident.
  • Must be pursuing an Associate degree in Culinary Arts at WCCC.

National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Chapter #236 Scholarship

Value:$Amount determined by funds available.
Criteria:

  • Must attend Western Colorado Community College full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Must be in their last year of studies and enrolled in a construction-related field.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5.

 

National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Chapter #359 Scholarship

Value: $700
Criteria:

  • Must attend Western Colorado Community College full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Must be female student.
  • Must be enrolled in a Drafting, Electric Lineman, Manufacturing Technology, or Construction Technology program
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.

 

R. B. C. Dain Rauscher Scholarship

Value: $1000
Criteria:

  • Must attend Western Colorado Community College full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Must be pursuing a degree in any Vocational program at WCCC.
  • Must be a Mesa County, Colorado resident.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5.

 

San Luis Valley Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc.

Electric Lineman Scholarship

Value:  $4000

Criteria:

  • Must attend Western Colorado Community College full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Applicant or applicants parent(s) (or legal gardian(s)) must live within the San Luis Valley Rural Electric Cooperative service area.
  • Must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.

Deadline:  February (first Thursday in February annually)

 

S.N. Wagler Scholarship

Value:$Amount determined by funds available.
Criteria:

  • Must attend Western Colorado Community College full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Must be a student enrolled in an Associate degree or higher who otherwise might not have been able to secure a college education without encouragement and financial assistance.
  • Recipient selected on the basis of need, scholarship ability, and seriousness of purpose and endeavor.

 

Western Colorado Contractors Association (WCCA) Scholarship

Value: $1250
Criteria:

  • Available to part-time (6+ credits per semester) or full-time (12+ credits per semester) students.
  • Must be enrolled in Construction Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Transportation Services Technology.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
