CTE Admission Testing

In accordance with our goal of providing teachers who are competent in subject matter, the Colorado Mesa University Center for Teacher Education (CTE) requires content testing prior to admission to the teacher education program and prior to beginning student teaching.

PRAXIS CORE (Core Academic Skills for Educators) Score Requirements:

When initially applying to the Teacher Education program, students must submit printed copies of their official Praxis CORE score report(s) with their application materials.

Writing Exam - Code 5722

 Math Exam - Code 5732

  • Not required for Elementary majors with a grade of B or better in MATH 105 and 205. 
  • Required for Elementary majors with a grade of C in MATH 105 or 205; must pass with a score of 150. 
  • Not required for Secondary or K-12; must earn a grade of C or higher in MATH 110 or higher level required MATH course, per program. See program sheet for required math course.

Reading Exam - No longer required

Required Content/Licensure Testing

Content testing is required for state licensure. Students are required to take the Praxis II licensure exam prior to student teaching. Learn more about licensure content testing at:
