Recruitment Events

The Panhellenic Council has a mandatory attendance policy.  This means that a potential new member (PNM) is required to attend all chapter events on their schedule.  PNMs may NOT pick and choose the chapters they wish to attend on their schedule.  If a PNM chooses not to attend a scheduled event and does not have an excused absence, she will immediately be removed from the recruitment process.  Excused absences are limited to academic conflicts, illness, or a family emergency.  Conflicts beyond the three mentioned will not be accepted.  All excuses must be submitted to Panhellenic before recruitment begins by sending an email to with the subject EXCUSE.

Orientation is crucial for all potential new members (PNM's). You will learn about the recruitment process and get all the information you need to know to have the best experience possible!  PNMs will break into recruitment guide (Rho Gamma) groups who will go through the process together.

What to Wear

The dress attire for orientation is very casual and comfortable, such as jeans, shorts, and t-shirts.  Potential new members will be spending time learning about the recruitment process and meeting the members of their Rho Gamma groups.

During the recruitment process the following clothing options are not appropriate:  gym clothes, sweatpants, leggings, inappropriate/very revealing clothing

During the first round of recruitment, all PNMs will visit both chapters for 30 minutes.  You will attend each party with your Rho Gamma group.  Each day you will have conversations with multiple women from each chapter.  On first datebook, chapters will give you an overview of their organization.

What to Wear

For the first datebook, attire is casual.  Nice jeans, shorts, dresses or skirts are appropriate.  Keep it put-together and comfortable.

During the second round of recruitment, you will again visit both chapters for 30 minutes.  The chapters will talk to you about their philanthropy, both national and local.  You might do a small craft to benefit one of the philanthropies the women support.  This is a great opportunity to meet different women than you did at the first datebook and don't forget to ask questions!

What to Wear

For second datebook, attire is dressier.  Dresses, nice pants, or skirts are recommended.  Wedges, casual heels, flats or nice sandals are appropriate.

On preference day, you will visit both chapters and spend an hour with each group to participate in their preference ceremonies.  These ceremonies present the values and ideals held by the chapter.  At the end of the day, you will rank the sororities  you attend.

What to Wear

Potential new members should wear cocktail-type dresses and heels preferably.  Dress as you would for a semi-formal event.

PNMs will meet their Rho Gammas in a location provided during orientation.  You will be given your invitation, or bid, to join a sorority.  Once everyone receives their bids, new members will meet their new member class and sorority sisters.  You will go with your group and participate in a fun bid day activity!

What to Wear

The dress attire for bid day is casual.  You can wear jeans or shorts and a t-shirt.
