Your First Year

After choosing psychology or counseling psychology as your major, you'll be assigned a faculty advisers from our department. Your adviser will help you choose courses for your first semester. 

Most freshmen who choose psychology take PSYC 150 (General Psychology) sometime in their first year. Students who have AP Psychology Credit often start by taking PSYC 233 (Human Growth and Development). This course also meets one of CMU's Essential Learning requirements
