Steven Bradley (B.A. University of Colorado-Boulder; M.A., Ph.D. Northwestern University) is Associate Professor of Art History. Dr. Bradley has taught art history at several universities including Cornell University, Texas Tech University and the University of Texas at San Antonio and has held positions at art museums in Texas, Louisiana and Iowa. In summer 2009 he was a Resident Fellow at the Cody Institute for Western American Studies in Cody, Wyoming. Bradley has been awarded a Fulbright Fellowship and in 2010 he will teach at Leipzig University in the Institute of American Studies as a Senior Lecturer. Bradley is currently completing an article on the dilemma of traditional Western art.
During his museum career Bradley has presented exhibitions of contemporary artists ranging from Pop artist James Rosenquist to Japanese sculptor Kazuo Kadonaga. Most recently he was the originating curator of Edouard Duval-CarriƩ: Migration of the Spirit presented at the Figge Art Museum (Davenport, IA) in 2006. He has also reviewed grants and award nominations for the National Endowment for the Arts, the Heinz Foundation and several state arts councils.
In the Art Department Bradley is very involved with undergraduate majors as both a classroom instructor and as faculty advisor to the Student Art Club. He regularly accompanies student groups to art museums and galleries in Denver and offers classes that take students to important art capitals such as Santa Fe and New York.
