Dr. Alma Jackson joined the faculty of the Health Sciences Department in 2006 initially as a part-time position teaching Nursing Research. She has now advanced to a tenure-track position and holds the title of assistant professor and BSN Program Director.  She teaches teach Business of Health Care and Nursing Research.  Dr. Jackson’s nursing preparation includes a BSN from Loretto Heights College, an MS from California College for Health Sciences, and a Ph.D. in Education from Cappella University.  To meet the requirements of the State Board of Nursing she is currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Nursing Education from the University of Northern Colorado.  Dr. Jackson is actively involved in the community outside of academia. She has a consulting business that serves to improve safety in the workforce and has used her nursing background as an occupational health nurse specialist to improve safety from Yellowstone National Park to 3M Corporation.  Locally she works with several oil and gas companies to improve the safety of their workers.  Dr. Jackson is a member of Sigma Theta Tau.  She is currently involved in a research project with Community Hospital to study blood glucose levels throughout surgery and post operative outcomes. She is also a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers and American Association of Occupational Health Nurses.
