Founded in 1925, the institution has grown from a junior college enrolling 41 students to a vibrant university of more than 9,480, offering a full-range of undergraduate programs and a growing number of graduate programs.

The John U. Tomlinson Library is the largest academic library between Salt Lake City and Denver. The library offers a wealth of information and provides many different services and resources to both the campus and the community. It is the mission of the library to support the information, instructional and research needs of the region.
Today, holdings in Tomlinson Library include 395,200 books; 59,300 journals; 30,500 e-books/documents; and more than 30 million items available through Prospector.

Athletics play a key role in the growth of our students and are an integral part of the university experience. Students are given the chance to attend or participate in a wide range of sports and athletic activities including a number of varsity and intramural sports. With more than 70 conference and regional titles, Colorado Mesa University gives student-athletes the opportunity to earn a degree while competing at a top Division II institution.

This is the place to come to get and stay in shape! This area includes the new Trixter XDream Bikes, Precor Ellipticals, Precor Treadmills, Precor AMT's, Precor Stair Steppers, Precor Bikes, Life Fitness Bikes, Star Trac E-spinners, Keiser M3 Spin Bikes, Concept II Rowers, Sci-Fit Upper body Ergometers, 32 pieces of Precor selectorized equipment, and 29 pieces of Hammer Strength equipment. A knowledgeable student employee is always on duty to answer questions, demonstrate proper technique as well as proper use, and maintain the equipment. Plyo boxes, Bosu balls, med-balls, and many other accessories are available on the floor or for check-out at the Fitness Kiosk with a MAVcard.
The group exercise studio hosts just under forty different types of group exercise classes on our floating Maple floor. This room is loaded with mirrors, state of the art sound system, flat screen televisions, and all the accessories needed to get you on the road to a healthier lifestyle. The cycling studio includes 20 brand new Keiser M3 spin bikes along with a100-inch projection screen for movies, television, or workouts. The Student Recreation Center indoor track is open for running, jogging, and walking. The track is two lanes wide and is composed of flexible rubber surface. It takes 6 laps to cover a mile in the inside lane. The unique shape to our track includes a number of right and left hand turns along with a small incline. Hand held lap counters are available for free check out at the Fitness Kiosk with a MAVcard.
