Incoming Students

Welcome to Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colorado! The largest town in Western Colorado, Grand Junction is located about 30 miles from the Utah border and is at the base of the Grand Mesa, one of the world’s largest flat top mountains known for its many reservoirs and abundance of opportunity for outdoor sports. To the south is the Colorado National Monument, a series of beautiful red rock canyons, and the Uncompahgre Plateau. Within two to three hours are other attractions such as the San Juan mountain range, the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Glenwood Springs, and Telluride. Grand Junction is a friendly town that is experiencing steady growth. With a population of about 50,000, the surrounding economy depends mainly on ranching, oil and gas, agriculture, fruit farming, mining, and tourism.

Mesa State College has experienced tremendous growth in the past couple of years, with the 2009-2010 academic year having the highest enrollment yet at 7,000 students, and will continue to increase. Additionally, many new buildings have been added to our campus, including new dorms, a new fine arts building, a new classroom building for the business and education department, a new dance studio in the theatre department, a new recreation center that just opened in spring 2010, and a new college center to open in the fall 2010.
