Spring theatre season kicks off with Thoroughly Modern Millie

CMU's Department of Theatre Arts will present the musical extravaganza Thoroughly Modern Millie Feb. 22 through March 3 in the Moss Performing Arts Center Robinson Theatre.

The show is directed by new Assistant Professor of Theatre Benjamin Reigel with choreography by new Assistant Professor of Dance Amanda Benzin and musical direction by Jeremy R. Franklin. Junior Carly Nugent will star as Millie Dillmount in her first major role at CMU.

The plot revolves around small town girl Millie Dillmount, who moves to New York City as a modern woman in the 1920s to marry for money rather than for love. This comic pastiche musical evokes the flapper era of the Jazz Age when women were entering the workforce and rewriting the rules of love.

Filled with villains, dancing, romance and a full professional orchestra under the direction of Doug Morrow, six time Tony Award Winner Thoroughly Modern Millie has everything audiences love about musical theatre.

Student and Faculty/Staff rush prices apply on Thursday, Feb. 22 and Thursday, March 1. Rush tickets are $5 with a current MAVcard the day of the show and are available at the University Center Information Desk during the day or at the Moss Box Office in the evening beginning at 6pm.

Show times are 7:30pm Feb. 22-24 and March 1-3 with additional matinees at 2pm on Feb. 25 and March 3.

Regular ticket prices are $21 for adults, $17 for seniors, faculty and staff and $8 for students. Online tickets are available at coloradomesa.edu/tickets.
