CMU presents annual holiday choral concert

Colorado Mesa's vocal ensembles will present their annual concert on Tuesday, December 5, at 7:30pm in the Love Recital Hall in the Moss Performing Arts Center.

Vocal Chords, the vocal jazz ensemble, will open the concert with a beautiful ballad setting of Wexford Carol, followed by Winter Wonderland and a jazz waltz version of Jingle Bells. The Women's Choir, also directed by music Professor Monte Atkinson, DMA, will perform a breadth of songs from a Renaissance processional with bells; The First Nowell over Pachelbel's famous Canon in D; Hark the Herald Angels Sing in arrangement by CMU alum Chris Klaich, now a freelance artist based in New York City; and an upbeat setting of Sleigh Ride.

The second half of the concert will feature the Men's Choir, directed by Assistant Professor Graham Anduri, DMA, singing three carols: What Child is This, Veni Emmanuel and Jingle All the Way. Vocal Arts Ensemble, directed by Atkinson, concludes with a stirring program featuring a Renaissance Spanish Carol with bells, the powerful African Betelehemu, an exquisite setting of the beloved Austrian Carol Still, Still, Still, arranged for the Dallas Symphony Chorus, and concludes with Christmas in St. Petersburg for double choir.

The Love Recital Hall will be decorated to uplift one and all and the beautifully sung music with bells, cello, organ and jazz combo, will provide audience members with an evening of beautiful music to start the season.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for students. Tickets are available at coloradomesa.edu/tickets or at the door the night of the performance.
